Who we are

The Road Goes Ever On ("the app", "we") is developed and operated by Federico Rebeschini, Italy, who is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at support@roadgoesever.com.

Using the app without an account

You can use every core feature without signing up.

• Location. The app uses your device's precise location only while you are recording a route, including when the screen is locked during that recording. It does not collect location when you are not recording.
• Routes. The routes you record (GPS points with timestamps and altitude, route name, distance and duration) are saved in a database on your device. They are not sent to us.

Maps

Maps are provided by Mapbox. To show the map, your device downloads map tiles from Mapbox, which means Mapbox receives technical information such as your IP address, device type and the map area being displayed. The Mapbox SDK may also collect anonymous usage data. Mapbox processes this under its own privacy policy. We do not send your recorded routes to Mapbox.

Optional account

You can create an account to choose a username and, if you subscribe, to back up your routes. If you sign up we collect:

• Email address, if you sign in with an email code, or the identifier and email that Apple provides if you use Sign in with Apple (this may be a private relay address).
• Username that you choose. Your username may be shown to other users in future features such as leaderboards. Your email address is never shown to other users.

Sign-in codes are sent by email through Resend, our email delivery provider.

Cloud backup (premium)

If you have an active premium subscription and turn on backup, your routes (GPS points, timestamps, altitude, name, distance, duration) are uploaded so you can restore them on a new device. Only you can access your backed-up routes. If your subscription ends, your backup is no longer synced.

Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store. Apple handles payment; we never receive your card details. We receive only the status of your subscription (for example, whether it is active and when it expires), which may be processed by a subscription management provider on our behalf.

Where your data is stored

Account and backup data is stored with Supabase on servers in the European Union (Ireland). The service providers we use are:

Some providers may process data outside the EU under appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Why we process your data (legal bases)

• To provide the app and the account and backup features you ask for (performance of a contract).
• To keep the service secure and working (legitimate interests).
• Location access is used only after you grant permission on your device, and you can withdraw it at any time in your device settings.

How long we keep it

Data on your device stays until you delete the routes or uninstall the app. Account and backup data is kept until you delete your account. When you delete your account, your account, username and backed-up routes are permanently deleted.

Deleting your account

In the app, open Account and tap Delete account. This deletes your account and all data stored online immediately. You can also ask us by email.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Write to support@roadgoesever.com and we will reply within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; in Italy this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update this page and the effective date above. For significant changes we will let you know in the app.
